Commissioning of the 17.38 MW Sephu Solar Power Project — A Landmark Moment

Rigsar Construction Pvt. Ltd. proudly marks a significant milestone with the successful commissioning of the 17.38 MW Sephu Solar Power Project, held last Saturday in Sephu Gewog, Wangdiphodrang.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of the Hon’ble Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, Mejey Gem Tshering, who commended all contributors, with special recognition to private sector partners. Their unwavering commitment and collaborative spirit were pivotal in bringing this visionary project to life.

A Pioneering Achievement in Bhutan: The Sephu Solar Power Project is the first of its kind in the country — a groundbreaking endeavor entirely conceptualized, developed, and executed by Bhutanese professionals. It stands as a resounding testament to the nation’s emerging talent and growing technical capacity in the renewable energy sector.

Ltd. has inscribed its name into the nation’s energy development narrative. The company takes immense pride in delivering this landmark project on schedule, reflecting its dedication and excellence.

Building Expertise for the Future: More than just an infrastructure triumph, the project represents a leap in technical know-how for the company. Rigsar’s technical team, which invested nearly three years into planning and execution, has emerged enriched in both skill and confidence.

Following the project’s successful completion and adherence to quality standards, the Government of Bhutan has approved an expansion of an additional 5 MW, raising the total installed capacity to 22.38 MW at the same location.

The contract for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction was awarded to M/s Rigsar – PES JV in July 2023.
